I have many years of experience tutoring English. I have discovered that encouraging the student to talk in real time and then making the proper corrections, also in real time, is a good way to expedite progress. Anyone can write something on a board and then waste your valuable time by asking you to copy it. Or by going over grammar and vocabulary that you can do by yourself. Moreover, one on one instruction is private and extremely cost effective to the student. What good is learning a language if you do not get a chance to speak it in the real world? And what good is speaking it in the real world if you are not sure if what you are saying is in the right context? This is why I recommend a Linguatour: a walk around town in which the student observes me communicate with other English speakers. Cafe, house, park, or street. You decide.
